Important Changes to the Victorian Electricity Industry Requirements - Civil Contractor Activities
The Victorian Electricity Industry consisting of Jemena, United Energy Distribution (UED), Powercor, Citipower and SPI Electricity (SPAusNet) introduced changes to the requirements for companies and individuals involved in the civil aspects of underground electricity infrastructure projects that form part of the electricity distribution system throughout Victoria.
The changes affect all civil contractors engaged or tendering for underground electricity infrastructure civil work activities, only pre-qualified and approved contractors are permitted to work on network electricity infrastructure projects.
The Requirements include a pre-qualification and accreditation process that includes:-
- An approved Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Additional training for personnel supervising and/or undertaking works.
- Project auditing and inspection requirements.
These requirements were implemented on 1st January 2010.
All contractors interested in being involved in the civil aspects of underground electrical infrastructure works need to be VEDN accredited.
