Skills and Training — Training Guideline / Matrix

Skills and Training Guideline and Matrix

The purpose of the VESI Skills and Training Guideline and Matrix is to:

  • Provide an agreed standard common to all Network operators
  • Specify the minimum Qualification and Competency assessment / Refresher Training requirements for access to the VESI Electrical Networks
  • Provide an agreed set of learning outcomes and assessment criteria for VESI specified training and where applicable be consistent with Nationally endorsed Competency Standard Units

In 2012 a review of the guideline and matrix was undertaken. The revised modules and matrix are available below:

The training matrix has the functionality to be downloadable for a specific job role/s. The matrix can be used by companies as an employee training matrix and/or to complete a training needs analysis.

TROUBLESHOOTING when selecting extract:

Excel will not have the same settings for each computer and therefore you may encounter some issues when trying to extract the matrix. To resolve this issue, click on the link in the heading to find further information.

Steps to use the downloadable spreadsheet:

Step 1: Click on the extract button (Ref: C3) and select the job role/s required by clicking with the mouse in the box/es and then click on Select. This will then process all of the sheets by role into a separate worksheet. This process can take up to a minute to occur - please be patient and wait for the hourglass to finish.

Step 2: Enter an expiry period (in days) that you wish the system to use.  60 is allocated as the default at the moment.  (Ref: A2)

Step 3: Enter data ie dates (dd/mm/yy) and Employee Name

This information populates a "traffic light" system for the dates you enter
Green = current (sits outside of the expiry period specified)
Orange = expiring (sits within the expiry period)
Red = expired (expired today or prior to today's date)

If you wish to change the warning days, the system will automatically update the “traffic Lights”.

If a date is entered that is in the future the cell will be not be allocated a “traffic light” and in row 1 and the corresponding column you will see the words Future Date to indicate that a date has been entered incorrectly.

Where there is no frequency specified ie in the qualifications and licensing, the system will automatically put the date in Green.
